Lombardi Making Waves in RI

GSL’s Frank A. Lombardi,  a featured speaker at this month’s Rhode Island  Condo Forum & Expo, has been making a splash on a variety of fronts:

On May 5, 2012, at the Mansfield Holiday Inn, Lombardi co-taught the Almost Free Legal Advice Seminar that answered frequently asked questions about assessment collection, rental restrictions, the Role of the Association Board, covenant enforcement, and discrimination issues.

Senate Judiciary Committee:
On April 12, Lombardi and Mary-Joy Howes addressed RI’s Senate Judiciary Committee on behalf of associations’ rights during a hearing regarding proposed bill 2012 — S 2215. The bill would prohibit transfer fees upon the resale or subsequent transfer of real estate. To ensure that the interests of RI condominium associations are protected with respect to Resale Certificate fees and Working Capital Deposit fees, Lombardi is planning to meet with the bill’s sponsor, Senator Walter Felag.

Supreme Court:
On April 4, 2012, before the RI Supreme Court, Lombardi, on behalf of an association, argued a major case regarding the status of development rights that expire unexercised. The case is awaiting the Justices’ decision. We will keep you posted on further developments.
